Saddlers supply horse-riding gear. They design, manufacture, rebuild, and repair saddles, saddle trees, and harnesses. They also work on riding boots and other tack for all equestrian activities.
Training Hours: Complete 7,400 hours of on-the-job training and two 10-week in-class technical training sessions for this apprenticeship.
Horse harness makers identify and select quality leathers to cut and stitch to the scale and size of harness parts, diagnose worn and defective harness parts and components, and create a template to modify or replace missing or damaged components. Harness makers also black and slick leathers and complete all finishing techniques for their products.
